You must read the AUTHOR SALON PROFILE GUIDE PAGE before you begin this process or you will not be as successful as you need to be. While engaged in creating your project profile, keep a separate window open in your browser to enable referencing this guide without having to leave the page. You are strongly advised to create a separate doc file and save your longer responses. Also make certain to fill out all the questions as you go or the program will not allow you to continue.

NOTE: THE SYSTEM WILL TIME YOU OUT after six hours and you will lose all of your data if you have not completed the profile and saved on the very last page. In other words, don't fill in half of it and walk away for two days. Take notes as you go concerning areas you will need to improve and return later to edit, and plan at least one hour to complete the profile.

The questions might provoke you to consider facets of your project in new ways, and as your prose and projects evolve here at Author Salon, you will need to further revise your profile. Keep in mind that agents or editors might view your work at any time, so it's best to keep your profile looking as competitive as possible. Don't worry about negative impressions. They understand many writers are in the process of evolution. Please know that inadequate attention to your profile during this sign-up process will result in possible rejection.

Check the appearance of the text in your profile once you have posted. Use Firefox or Google Chrome, if possible, since these usually provide a spell check as you go. In your PROSE AND NARRATIVE ELEMENTS section, delete doublespace lines between paragraphs and use your spacebar to create five-space indents for narrative paragraphs and dialogue. But on the cover page of your profile and in the following two sections regarding plot and bio, etc., you must remove all indents and execute returns as needed to doublespace the paragraphs. And don't neglect to ALL CAP your title in the opening section.

By the way, at such time you provide a digital profile photo, you are advised to upload one that is of good quality. First impressions make a difference, and this business is no exception.

NOTE: ALL PROFILES SUBMITTED TO AUTHOR SALON ARE IN PENDING STATUS UNTIL SUCH TIME AUTHOR SALON APPROVES THE PROJECT. You will receive a note once that approval takes place, usually within 48 hours, along with a link to register. Following registration, you will receive a welcome letter with guidelines, assignments, and necessary navigation directions.
